Planned Maintanence

Gen-Tech encourages a very pro-active approach to Generator and ATS maintenance.  Our “Planned Maintenance” services are designed to ensure functionality and reliability. Gen-Tech offers a variety of Maintenance Agreements for all generator brands to best fit your needs: Operational Inspections, Monthly, Quarterly, Semi-annual, and Annual services. Load Bank testing and Building Load testing are performed to verify generator operation under load. Fluid samples; Oil, Coolant, and Fuel provide early detection of any potential problems. ATS maintenance is equally important, in addition to the Minor visual inspection; GEN-Tech offers a comprehensive operational test, including transfer under load, bypass isolation functions, inphase monitor operation, voltage sensing, and Infrared testing to identify operating hot spots.

Load Bank Testing

Load Bank testing is a method utilized to simulate “Under Load” conditions to fully test a generators output capability. It validates the generator’s ability to perform to specification, as well as to remove any deposits (Commonly known as “Wet Stacking”) caused by lightly loaded operation. Load Bank testing also certifies operational functionality after repairs have been completed. Gen-Tech offers Load Bank testing up to 2 megawatts. Accurate recording for facility personnel and code compliance (NFPA) is documented at each load step; Time, % of Load, kW Output, Coolant Temp, Oil Pressure, Fuel Pressure, Voltage and Amp readings. Comparative tests over time reveal changes in performance and allow for proactive repairs instead of failure during an outage.

Thermal Imaging

Gen-Tech offers optional Thermal Imaging services in conjunction with major ATS services. A Thermal Imager is essentially a device that detects infrared radiation (Heat).Thermal imaging is a valuable tool utilized during maintenance or transfer switch trouble shooting. The main purpose is to clearly identify or pinpoint any “Hot Spots”, which would indicate a loose connection, overloaded system, faulty wiring, or component failure. Loose, stripped, or corroded connections will reduce efficiency and potentially lead to failure. The ability to diagnose potential problems, will not only help avoid costly repairs, but also ensure the integrity of the switch. For compliance and record keeping purposes customers are provided with a thorough report detailing the condition of their transfer switches.

Fuel Maintanence

Fuel maintenance is a critical, yet often overlooked part of generator services. Diesel fuel contaminants, such as sediment, water, bacterial growth, and fuel degradation will result in poor performance, or generator failure. Gen-Tech offers a variety of services to help ensure the quality of diesel fuel as well as the cleanliness of the fuel storage tank. Fuel filter changes and Fuel/Water Separator maintenance are part of the Preventive Maintenance Service Agreement. Routine fuel sampling identifies specific and comparative results for; Particulates, Water (ppm), Micro-Organisms, Cetane Index, Distillation, etc. Early detection can typically be treated with Biocides and Fuel Stabilizers.
