Reliable

Quite simply, the most reliable standby power solution you can buy! The Modular Power System (MPS), designed and built by Generac Power Systems, is a powerful combination of the industry's most reliable generators and superior, state of the art onboard paralleling technology. No other manufacturer can offer you 99.9999% reliability in such a cost-effective system.

Because of the high cost of paralleling switchgear, previous industry attempts to achieve this level of reliability for systems under six megawatts were either not possible, or were far too expensive. Generac's patented PowerManager® control system eliminates the need for switchgear and provides built-in paralleling capabilities for multiple generators. That gives you the advantages of redundancy, flexibility and scalability in a modular system that costs less than a large, single engine genset.

For many businesses, the financial cost of a lengthy power outage would be prohibitive. MPS provides the assurance that you’ll keep operating, regardless.

Generac’s Modular Power System is offered in three fuel options – diesel, natural gas, or bi-fuel. Bi-fuel extends run times and reduces operating costs as well as on-site diesel storage.

Redundant

With multiple generators on call, redundancy is built in. In many applications, the load requiring the highest degree of reliability is only a percentage of the total generation capacity. In these situations, the Modular Power System automatically backs up the most critical load with N + 1 to N + 9 redundancy. The resulting gains in reliability for supporting the critical load are significant.

Scalable

The Modular Power System is designed with scalability in mind. Each module is designed to simply "plug and play" with an existing MPS system, allowing multiple generators to be added as needed.

Scalability has two distinct advantages:

Significantly reduces up-front capital cost – system can be initially sized for current or near-term power needs

Eliminates the need to estimate total power requirements up-front –simply add modules for more power as needed

Flexible:

Generac's MPS system is based upon an assortment of proven and reliable modules that are paralleled to match any power requirement from 300 to 6000 kilowatts.

Available MPS Modules:

150 kW natural gas
200 kW natural gas
300 kW diesel
300 kW bi-fuel
375 kW diesel
375 kW bi-fuel

400 kW diesel
500 kW diesel
600 kW diesel
600 kW Gemini bi-fuel
750 kW Gemini diesel
750 kW Gemini bi-fuel

By utilizing a multiple generator solution instead of a large single
genset, much greater application flexibility is available.

Modules are:

Lighter - For ease of installation or improved load distribution on rooftop applications
Smaller - For space constrained applications
Compatible - Any size modules can be combined to achieve required capacity.

Serviceable

Modular Power System generators use high volume, high reliability, mass-produced, over-the-road truck engines. These prime movers are easily serviceable by on-road technicians. Likewise, maintenance and replacement parts are more readily available and much less expensive than larger engine counterparts.

Modular Power System generators can reduce maintenance costs:

• Lower Cost of Parts
• Parts are Commonly Available
• Easy to Handle Components and Fluid Quantities
• Large Population of Qualified Technicians

Generac is the single source supplier of the entire Modular Power System and therefore warrants all the elements in the system.

Available

Modular Power System generators use readily available high volume engines. These units can typically ship in much shorter lead times than
large specialized engines.

Economical

One look at the engine dollar cost per kilowatt at different outputs will show why the multiple generator concept works so well. The mass-produced truck engines we use cost less due to economies of scale. Larger engines that produce more than 600 kW are built in far fewer numbers, making them more costly to manufacture. This chart shows the relative dollar cost per kW for diesel engine gensets, with our MPS engines falling in the most cost-effective range from 300 - 600 kilowatts.

Power Management

Generac's exclusive PowerManager® System is the
state-of-the-art technology that operates the Modular Power System. Through the use of our Digital Control Platform (DCP) technology, PowerManager handles the operation of individual gensets, the seamless paralleling of multiple units, and effective management of up to ten generators at one time. The DCP is designed and engineered for durability, featuring hardened circuitry in an aluminum casing that is impervious to electrical and magnetic interference, as well as the outside environment. It's robust, reliable, and built to provide decades of dependable service.
