Education and experience
High school diploma or GED certificate; and training from accredited technical school specializing in diesel or gas engines, or honorable military discharge with a duty assignment related to vehicle or power generation equipment service
Physical demands*
- Service technicians are regularly required to:
- Reach with hands and arms
- Stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
- Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. (and occasionally up to 100 lbs.)
- Be exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions (extreme heat and cold), and risk of electrical shock
- Travel
Level I - Entry Level Basic Mechanical and Electrical knowledge to assist other technicians in the execution of their duties.
- Follow Instructions and work well on a team
- Clearly document all work and repairs completed
- Current Driver License with safe driving record
- Assist technicians in diagnostic, testing, pulling cable and other items
- Follow safety requirements
Level II - Intermediate Level This position has technical understanding of generator repair and operation to perform simple repairs and preventative maintenance.
- Perform minor unit repairs.
- Perform major and minor preventative maintenance on most generator models.
- Identify additional repairs needed.
- Current Drivers License with safe driving record.
- Clearly document all work and repairs completed.
- Respond quickly to job sites (24/7)
- Follow safety requirements including proper use of protect equipment.
Specialist - Advanced Level This position is capable of troubleshooting paralleling problems, control panel and PLC troubleshooting at generator paralleling level. Complete generator/ engine overhaul, repair, and troubleshoot capabilities. Weld and fabricate and perform multi-generator start up and commissioning procedures.
- Troubleshoot operational failures of generators
- Install and test new units
- Repair and adjust transfer switches
- Guide and train lower – level technicians
- Respond Quickly to job sites (24/7)
- Current Drivers License with safe driving record.
- Clearly document all work and repairs completed.
- Follow safety requirements including proper use of protect equipment.
