On-Site Power Generation Seminar

SKU OSPGT

The centerpiece of our training is our "3-Day Power Generation Seminar." Our learning center offers a valuable "hands-on" learning experience with functional equipment that complements classroom instruction. This gives our students the opportunity to learn troubleshooting, diagnostic and repair skills under the watchful eyes of our instructional experts, who test them with a variety of real world challenges.  Additionally, our training provides the end user with the principles of power generation that are applicable to any emergency power system.

Hands-on activities were very useful and the instructors were execellent. Their presentation style was great, too.
I would highly recommend this to others because I felt that I really learned a lot. Thank you!

We had a generator that worked just fine on its monthly test run on June 11th. The site's lead Building Engineer attended Gen-Tech's On-Site Power Generation Seminar and learned a lot.

The very next Monday, June 28 a drunk driver hit a power pole and knocked out utility AC to the site. The generator started up as expected but the Automatic Transfer Switch did not switch the load onto the generator.

Using his newly acquired generator knowledge, the Building Engineer quickly determined that the generator's output voltage was much higher than normal at 396 volts instead of the 240 it was supposed to be. He then determined that the generator's voltage regulator had been nibbled by rodents and was not immediately repairable, so he arranged for a portable generator to be delivered and hooked up to support the site before the site's backup battery system was drained, preventing an outage.

After everything was stable, he contacted our generator repair vendor and scheduled a permanent fix with no separate troubleshooting dispatch needed since we already knew what parts needed to be replaced. This will reduce our expense for the repair as they should be able to fix it with a single on-site visit.
